TOML tools
TOML (Tom's Obvious, Minimal Language) is a config format designed to map clearly to a hash table. Rust's Cargo.toml and Python's pyproject.toml use it, along with many other project and tool settings files. Version 1.0.0 of the spec was released in 2021.
Unlike YAML, TOML does not depend on indentation. Keys are grouped under [table] headers, dotted keys such as server.port create nested tables inline, and [[double-bracket]] headers define arrays of tables. TOML also has types that JSON lacks, including 64-bit integers and offset date-times, local dates and local times. It has no null, so a JSON or YAML null cannot be written in TOML directly. Defining the same key or table twice is an error, not a silent overwrite.
These tools help you check and move TOML files. Validate a document with line and column errors and reformat it consistently. Compare two files by value while ignoring comments, layout and key order. Converters translate TOML to and from JSON, YAML and INI, and the merge tool deep-merges a TOML base with environment overrides. Everything runs in your browser.
