CSV editor: clean, sort, filter and join
About CSV Editor
This CSV editor runs the everyday table edits without opening a spreadsheet. Paste or open a CSV file, pick an operation and copy or download the result. It works on the text, so there is no grid to click through.
Clean trims cells, drops blank rows, normalizes headers and fixes line endings. Sort, Filter and Dedupe reorder or reduce the rows by the columns you name. Join merges a second CSV file on a key column, like a database join.
Quoted fields are parsed properly, so a comma or line break inside a quoted value stays part of the value. Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
How it works
Cell and row cleanup
Trim cells removes leading and trailing whitespace from every value. Remove empty rows drops rows where every cell is blank after trimming.
Normalized headers and line endings
Normalize headers turns names into lowercase snake_case, numbers empty names and adds suffixes to duplicates, so no column is lost. Pick CRLF for standard CSV exchange or LF for Unix tools and Git repositories.
Stable column sorting
Sort by a header name, ascending or descending. Numeric cells compare as numbers and text uses locale-aware comparison. Rows with equal values keep their original order.
Filter expressions
Filters support =, !=, contains (~), and >, <, >= and <= for numbers or text. For example, status=active, name~ada or score>=90.
Remove duplicates by key
Enter one or more comma-separated columns to keep the first row for each key combination. Leave the field empty to compare whole rows.
Join two CSV files
Join adds a second input. Enter one key name if both files use the same header, or leftKey,rightKey if the names differ. Left keeps every row from A, inner keeps only matches and full also adds unmatched rows from B. The right key column is dropped and clashing headers get a right. prefix.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a spreadsheet-style CSV editor?
No. It edits CSV as text with operations, so you never click through cells. Use it to clean, sort, filter, dedupe or join a file before you open it anywhere else.
Will commas inside values be preserved?
Yes. Quoted fields are parsed first and quoted again in the output when needed.
Does sorting move the header row?
No. The header stays first. Only data rows are reordered.
Which duplicate row is kept?
The first one.
How do I merge two CSV files by a column?
Pick Join, paste the second file into CSV B and enter the key column, such as id, or user_id,id when the names differ. Every matching pair becomes one row, the same as a SQL join.
Is my CSV uploaded?
No. Every operation runs in your browser.
